Hooray! I've been looking for a pair of cognac colored boots for what feels like forever. I ruined the pair I had in the rain a couple years ago and I have now found an exceptional replacement.
I've been a long time lover of this brand, 80/20% by Ce Ce Chin. Every short girls best friend, these boots feature a hidden wedge that gives that extra couple inches we all love.
Big fan of the general styling of this boot without going into overkill and the small heel makes it practical and wearable for everyday outings. I bought this color in the store but I found them online and ordered the gray color from Karmaloop-should be here in a couple weeks!! Will post those when they arrive, until then, I suggest you grab a pair.

Straight up that is what I bought- a much needed new wallet.
I've been using this turqoiuse vintage looking Guess wallet I bought at a sample sale about 8 years ago for the last year or so, but sadly it has broken due to too much moola being stuffed in it. Kidding, I just don't take care of certain things and a wallet is something that finds itself a little used and abused by the likes of me.

I did however want to find something that was in the same color family as my previous wallet. There is something nice about having a wallet that you can find at the bottom of a dark purse. This lovely wallet came in 3 colors. I bought the green for myself, the gray for my sister and left the black one in the store for all the boring people.
Super cute details on the front, it has this sort of vintage feel-in my opinion of course.
The best part about it is it has the usual coin zipper pocket on the side but it also has this zipered pouch on the top. Bonus for when you just need somewhere to shove stuff, me likey.

I'm not feeling clever at the moment. Comf was all I could come up with when referring to these lovely 3/4 sleeve crew neck light sweatshirts. I've been looking for a crewneck for a while, in fact, it's something I wish was a little more "in" more of the time.
Sometimes you just don't want the hood you know?

I love that these are casual and comfortable and in this case, short enough that they look good layered or they can showcase a great belt choice with a pair of jeans. They are light enough that they just give you that extra bit of warmth when required without being bulky. Also very much love the wider waistband at the bottom and the cuffs, just a little something "oomph" on an otherwise plain article of clothing. I loved the grey one so much I bought two just in case something ever happend to one of them. Something meaning a few too many Malibu soda's or a sketchy coatcheck. Always good to have a back-up of your faves...just saying...

Continuing with my love of studs-enter my new small bag. Notice I did not use the word "purse". My grandmother owns "purses", I own bags, nuff said.

This color reminded me of the bag I got at Zara a few months back with those cute flowers hanging off the sides with the metal chain. At first I thought it would be the darker grey one that I would favor but I've actually favored the one that was this color, and it's getting a little trashed to be honest. Enter it's new replacement. Same dusty rose color that I adore and it has wicked little silver studs all over the front. It's big enough that you can jam most of your crap in but it helps me realize what I actually need to go out with and keeps me from bringing the kitchen sink out with me.

Huge fan of the chain link strap and hey, it was cheap, so can't say I really care if it doesn't last forever.
Again, bought it a while ago (Sorry, been super super lazy with posting) but I checked yesterday and they still have it in this color,as well as black and white with studs, so there is a color to suit everyone!

Here is me at my best, the whole "I'll take that in every color it comes in thanks..".
Truthfully, there are actually a few more colors to choose from, I just prefer to keep it basic so I can overdose on accessories.
For me, I don't like spaghetti strap style tank tops. My boobs are too big and I look like an idiot wearing them. I find the same thing happens that does with "bigger" bras, you still want something cute but that offers a bit more coverage.

I loved that these ones are slightly flared out at the bottom, but not too much so that they lose their shape. The neck is high enough that your boobies aren't pooping all over the place but you still look like a woman. I also found them to be super soft and they came in so many colors!
I bought mine in the middle of July so I went back just to make sure they still had them since I didn't post them at the time, and they do, and there is even new colors since then AND they were buy one get one 50% off when I checked yesterday.
Selection is huge, tons of solid colors and stripe option as well. Just remember that these are "Aerie", which is an area in American Eagle Outfitters that only Metrotown and Robson st. have in their stores, so if you want one, you have to go to one of those locations.

Oh my god I love so much Baseball style 3/4 length raglan shirts. If you don't know what raglan shirt is, look at the pic, that is a raglan shirt. This style is always used for concert tee-shirts, and as much as I love certain bands, I don't usually like the shirts. I do however have a Gorillaz one that I got years ago that has since become my bedtime shirt since it lost a battle in the washing machine and turned a very strange shade of brown...
Anyways, love this one so much! It's actually sort of transparent, so I'd suggest wearing a tank underneath or of course if the lighting allows, go with just a bra. It's thin and the little pocket on the front just makes it extra cute. I am in love with anything grey so I went for this color combo but they also had Grey with Blue sleeves and Grey with Pinky-Purpley Sleeves. Me loves.

I love hats, always have. I'll admit it, I'm a fan of the whole lid turned up circa early 1990's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air style, my grandma however, is not. I think she would say " You look like what kind of, Hoodlum". Granted, wearing the brim turned up does lend itself to judgements from the older crowd, but for me, I just dig the way it looks, and it doesn't interfere as much with my hair and make up. Needless to say you can still rock a baseball hat as it should be, just don't throw it on backwards or my grandma will think you are the one that robbed her 20 years ago.

I must mention that the herringbone hat that I picked up is almost exactly the same as one I've already owned for years. The only difference is this one is brown mesh and the other was black and grey with mesh. Never have I had so many offers from people to buy an article of clothing or an aaccessory as much as the grey and black mesh hat. Dudes, chicks, people seem to dig it. Sadly, it is was never and will never be for sale, but I couldn't believe it when I found this one that is literally identical to the one I have, only missing the Triple Five Soul barcode label. So, anyone that ever wanted that hat, now you can go get your own and get this, they were both only 5 bucks each! Score!!

That day was a good day. I'm saying "that day" because I bought them near the end of July. I was moving and honestly, have just been too lazy to post but I checked the other day and they still had some. Go get'em Tigers!

Anyways, when you are having one of those days where your mirror is not being kind to you, it's nice to have something that can be your friend. I'm going to give credit where cred is due, and that would be to American apparel for this body style (I got this there about 2 years ago in Heather grey), but Aritzia has done a nice copy job in my opinion, and unlike with a man, I am not loyal to any particular store. (Except Urban Outfitters).

It's sort of drapey, like if you get it in a size too big, there is a chance it's going to slip off your shoulder, which is a nice look if you're going for it. Me personally I went for a smaller fit since I want to wear it with skinnies when the muffin top rears it's ugly head. Super comfy and not clingy and again, available in quite a few colors.

I'd put the white one in there but somehow I managed to spill on myself within the first 5 minutes of wearing it. As you may or may not have noticed, I've been on a bit of a non-shopping bender over the last couple months. Mamma has been trying to "sort my life out" and part of this entails paying for much bigger things- things you can't wear called Tuition.
That's right folks, I'm going to get schooled this September and I thought before I learn to play the starving student role (won't look good on me), I better get in some last minute must have's.

This was the first thing that caught my eye in a while and I thought I just had to have it. Usually in this type of jacket I would want a hood, but I'm digging the slightly larger collar which is a fair trade for lack of hood-ness.

My besty has worked part time over the years at American Eagle and every birthday and Xmas, she gets me cotton undies. Usually about 4 or 5 pairs so you can imagine after 7 years of friendship, I've gathered quite the collection. I decided to try these fancier ones on account of my middle age, still not uber sexy, but hey..baby steps.

So love them! I couldn't even feel them! I thought the little lace stuff would bug me but not at all. Like second skin these things are amazing, and super cute while attempting to hold up my rear end. Can't say how much I love them, or maybe I can , I bought about 17 pairs.

I'd like to say I don't religiously follow trends or jump on any particular fashion bandwagon very often, but every once in a while, I have to have something even if everyone and their kid named Bella or Edward have it too.
First of all, kudos for making a difference in the world. The only thing I can do is make a difference in my bank account balance.
"Tom" as the shoes are names after donates a pair of shoes for every pair sold, so right there you can tell yourself you are being a good samaritan and helping the less fortunate while decorating your feet in some VERY comfortable footwear.

No seriously, they are ridiculously comfortable. It's a tricky business when a brand can both deliver in casual/cool factor AND be comfortable. As an added bonus, elephants on the inside of the shoe? Awwww, too cute.

Side Boob Re-visited

Back a couple months ago I got this tank from Aritzia that was really low in the armholes and I claimed I was going to wear it with my new hot pink lacey bra. Mission accomplished and I was really quite pleased with how the vision in my head turned out pretty good when I put it into "real life". You know those times where you buy something and you totally picture it with something else you own and then you get home and try it on and you want to smack yourself upside the head? To top it off, whatever it was is probably not returnable/exchangeable and now you're stuck with only the vision in your head of what it was "supposed" to look like. Anyways, moving on...

I really like the tank/cool bra combo, and I actually find this tank pretty flattering since it's forgiving at the bottom, and tight around the chest where most ladies like it. In true me fashion, felt impulsed to buy 3 more colors on account of them being a few bucks off. Aside from that I've always felt that there is no justification required when an item is less than $20.00. If you have to hum and haa over $20 bucks, you should probably hang on to that, just saying.

So I have this navy cotton romper I got at Winners a few years ago, before rompers were "in". It's probably one of the most comfortable things I own, period. Like a cherished pet, that thing has gone everywhere with me. We're talking boat cruises, cabin times, Australia, not to mention I've worn it to bed a few times-truly good for everything. Everyone always likes it and asks me where I got it and sadly, it was so long ago and before rompers were all the rage, they were very hard to find and I was unable to help.
Fast forward to now where even little 16 year olds are romping around in my favorite attire, at least it makes them more available.
Now I've seen all kinds from denim to bustier styles, but I'm a fan of good old cotton. No point in making a romper sexy, it's perfect just the way it is.

Along with Bra's, bathing suits are right up there with my least favorite things to shop for.
I suppose I can't justify why articles so small need to cost so much. It covers my ha-ha's and hu-hu, why in the world do these things cost over a hundred bucks?

I wasn't really in the mood for a new bathing suit, but I thought it best not to wait until I needed one, that way I lesson the pressure of picking something ill fitting and expensive because I have too.
I actually love this bathing suit, and it comes in all sorts of colors. There were polka dots, solids like purple, green, teal and yellow, and they are sold as seperates so you can mix and match. I love that there is a strap should you need it, but it comes off so you can rock the tube top style. It's also really comfortable and you can't beat the price.
For the record, I bought bathing suits before at Target and they still look great today, proving that cheap can most certainly remain cheerful.

I've recently posted my dislike for bra shopping and spending over 20 bucks on a boobie holster. I am surprised with myself that I found some that I actually liked, and they were under 20 bucks.
Some of you may think the larger boobed woman are blessed, but I call them appendages of the skin that require a basket in order to be able to function. Bigger bras just aren't nice looking and comfort goes out the window when something is required to hold up a couple of bowling balls. BUT, I found this one and liked it so much, as usual, had to buy it in two colors.

There is no underwrire,and somehow the straps are not adjustable either and it still fit me perfectly. Is this what it's like when you find something that fits properly? Maybe I'm one of those chicks who needs to be measured..perhaps my dislike is unfounded by my stupidity and/or being in "d-nial". I think I keep trying to squish myself into what is obviously too small of a holster, hoping for the best with not so hot results.

I have an obsession with Rosaries. Part of this comes from the fact that you can't usually find them. It's like men, you want one , or more then one until they are on your couch all the time and then you get sick of seeing them. I'm not quite there yet, but I always liked that I didn't see too many around. Naturally when I came across eight thousand of them on my shopping outing, it worried me slightly that every 15 year old who stole 20 bucks from mamma's purse can get one, I'll worry about that later- until then my obsession continues.

Picked these two up for a bargain at Forever 21 in the states. I thought the baubles at the U.S one were way better than the selection at our Metrotown store. Again, not knocking our Canadian doors, but why don't we get the good stuff? I was there last week and I never saw anything like these. Of course I had to buy both, I need one to hang from my rearview mirror and one to fend off Twilight fans.

For how much I love clothing and shopping, bra's are just not something I care too much about, period.
HOWEVER, that tank I bought the other day...the one with the loose and wide arm holes needs a worthy companion. If I'm going to have to rock/show some side boob action, they should at least be adorned properly.

This one caught my eye when I walked in. There was actually another one in a slightly deeper reddish hue, still bright as hell that I wanted more, but they didn't have my size. Super pretty but the brightness gives it some pow! I ended up buying it with the tank in mind and later bought nail polish to match. Trust me, side boob will be very in this summer, make sure yours look great!

So I bought this nice little organizer to go in my bathroom drawer to keep my makeup from being all over the place and it always ends up all over my counter. There are certain things that are just hard to change, and this pattern seems to be one of them.

I decided since it's too much effort to place things neatly back in a drawer that I would have to find a new solution. I found this basket and it's big enough to hold the make-up I use on a daily basis and the other stuff can stay in the drawer. I can throw my brushes in one of the compartments and the rest of the stuff between the rest of the pockets.
That way, even when I just sweep everything off the counter, it still looks somewhat organized. It has a little handle on it too, which serves no purpose for me other than I justified the purchase going "Oh, but it even has a handle!!"

So my best friend and I met over a mutual love of clothes,and continue to share the obsession.
The nice thing is we meet somewhere in the middle in terms of our style; there are things we each have that the other admires, and then it's like we both take a turn in a different direction. Joc goes totally preppy. She loves collared shirts, flowery cardigans, delicate jewelry etc. I go the other way and look more like a skid, rocked out and like I could use a shower. I love how we have a common ground and then we can look at eachother's choices and go "I don't get it".

There's a few things of Joc's over the years that have migrated into my closet. The jean jacket, the TFS hoody, the Kentucky tee-shirt, and it's only because I was never able to find one of my own that I kept hers. This time, I borrowed a longer grey sweater to go out one night since mine was in the wash and I knew I had to get one of my own.

Hers was old Navy. She always finds stuff there and I hate it. I always find stuff in Winners and she hates it, this is why we are good for each other. I actually found this one in Zara, and it has these cute little buttons going up the arm sleeves, a very "Joc" type detail. It's super soft and nice and long, but not too long with plain nice buttons.
Exactly what I want in a just throw it over a t-shirt type sweater, I was very very happy to find one of my own.
So Joc, You can have yours back now. See, I give stuff back-eventually.

On our trip down to the good ol' U .S of EH, we stopped in at my favorite store of all time, Urban Outfitters. Not to say that our own location here in Vancouver doesn't stack the goods, but I am a regular shopper (weekly) and I hadn't yet seen this t-shirt, so I'm glad I stopped in.

They actually had 2 styles that had bikes on them, another one was white with navy and had some little red flowers on it, just for a splash of color- equally cute but I had unemployment weigh in and had to pick between the two, and this one won.
This is my kind of tee if it's going to be anything other than plain. Cute graphic, slightly longer in the sleeve (makes it more girly) and a bit longer and forgiving in the body. It's actually not a bad looking bike either...in fact, I think I want one now. Great.

Pretty basic stuff here peoples-Heather Grey Tank Top=must have for Spring.

You can get one pretty much anywhere, but I liked that this one has layering capabilities or can be worn alone.
It's one of those deep cuts on the side, so no wearing the "ugly bra" on the day you pick this and put it on.
Why not give everyone a little peek of your taste in undie garments when half of you spend so much on them?
I have this black one with little pink rosettes on it that is my only bra over $19.99, and I want to show it off.
Yes you heard me right, I will drop $800 on a pair of shoes in 2 colors, but an over $20 bra is out of control in my opinion. I'll just leave it at that.

Not really, but I just wanted to say the words.
So the Chambray shirt that I bought over the weekend...I said I needed white skinny jeans to go with it and here they are.
The thing with White jeans is it's not like I'm going to wear them all the time. They are going to get dirty, and trashed and I'm going to end up wanting a new pair eventually. Tis my theory on stuff like this- whenever something isn't a "staple" that's where I prefer to save than to splurge. At $35.90, I don't care if I fall in mud on the way home from the bar, I'll just go get another pair!

Bonus, elastic waistband! I know, I always thought that was totally mommy wear type stuff, but as I mentioned, the Aero bars I eat for breakfast seem to want to hang around for lunch on my thighs, so it actually really helps. Man I'm getting old.
For some reason, the pocket placement on the back is also has also helped my widening bottom look less so, and that's tough in white pants. See- through factor-7/10. The trick is to wear your greenest or bluest drawers (underwear) when you are out shopping for white pants to try and see how see through they are, then you don't have to guess.

Anyone that knows me and what they might consider to be "my style" would say that I tend to gravitate towards rather plain-ish lookin clothes. Solids, white tee's and jeans is what I gravitate towards and where I go 'nanna's is with my shoes and jewelry.
That said, I can't stress enough the importance of good basics, everyone needs them and they are harder to find then you think. Even plain white tee's can fit differently and some look better than others, the trick is finding the right ones that don't look cheap and dress up nicely.

I found this tee first in the heather gray and decided that I also needed it in white. It's really light for spring and the cut is interesting. It's slightly longer and it's not clingy, and the not quite boatneck neckline is really flattering.
The white is a little more sheer then the grey, but I actually like the look of a black or red bra under something a little sheer- Haloween isn't the only time of year you can let your inner tramp out you know? At least this way , it might be what normal people consider "tasteful".

Did I not? I said I was going to go back and get the little bootie version of the "back to school" loafers I got yesterday, and they just happened to have both colors in my size. So what's a girl to do? Buy both of course!

Truth be told, this style of shoe isn't the most flattering on us short gals. They hit right at your ankle which shortens our already short legs-but I don't care. So cute, so rocked out with the studs while maintaining a breathe of sophisticated air, I love them. I just feel my inner snot coming out as soon as I'm putting them on. They have little pulls at the back to help you get them on, bonus!

I almost bought the little shoes in black, but they ended up reminding me of witches shoes, insert cackle here. In short, wasn't feeling them, but you go ahead and give'er a whirl.

Not since those bags I bought at Plum back in the Fall have I been able to find more that I like.
I've realized that going to the bar with a bag the size of a backpack is not such a good idea. I love the look of clutches, but would lose my own head if it wasn't attached by my neck, so the idea of literally holding something all night is not for me.

This is like a happy medium. The bag is clutch sized, but has a chain strap long enough that I can wear it across my body, perfect for busting serious moves on the d-floor.
I think the cashew shape helps as well, it sort of "molds" to the side of your body. It has a little clasp so your crap doesn't fall out, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd throw some t-pons in there hoping for the best, but your wallet etc should be safe.
I fell in love with the color of the pinkish one, and went back to get the steel colored one for my friend and decided I needed that one as well. It has a cute flower print on the inside and the rock-ish chain strap is nicely balanced with the cotton flowers hanging off the side. It's all about the little things and this bag delivers in the details and me loves.

Since I decided I'm going back to school, I thought it best to get a pair of "loafers" to go with the idea. I like how I use ridiculous reasons for making purchases. I'm so glad I bought that "meet the parents" type shirt that I still haven't used since I haven't managed to meet the man yet. Typical, but at least I'm prepared, so there.

I wasn't opposed to the whole menswear inspired loafer, but I could not find a pair that I liked. I don't do the two toned-Charlie Chaplin type and I don't do shiny, so I found it challenging to jump on this particular trend. Perhaps better late then never, I finally found my perfect pair of mens-inspired with a little touch of stud-which we know by now I LOVE. They also fall in the category of not quite beige, not quite gray colored...sort of a mixture of the two. In my opinion, this is a color of shoe that goes with everything-except the rain.

I'm loving the buckle, I'm loving the tiny studs, and more importantly, loving that they were on sale, which is why I had to buy them. A girl can never pass on a good deal. They also come in black ,and a mini bootie style as well which I plan on going back out to get tomorrow-will post pictures if the crazy strikes me to buy both styles in both colors as usual. There is something about unemployment that makes me go "Ca-Ching!"

As already mentioned, Studs are sort of popping up everywhere and this one is right on the money. I love how it looks like it's "floating" on your fingers.Even for double finger rings that are starting to pop up here and there, this one is definitely different.
I like the confused looks on people's faces when they have to turn my hand over to have it make sense to them that rings can come in more options than the usual single style ring- get with the times people!

Chambray shirts are EVERYWHERE. Denim looks good on everyone,and not just on the bottom anymore.I'm excited to say there is such a selection out there that it's almost impossible to choose just one, so I now have two.

Way back in November I posted about a denim shirt I found at American Eagle Outfitters. Gosh Darn it they went and did it again with this sweet little number. It's the perfect shade of an all American faded out pale blue accented with another super hot trend coming up, studs. The studs are subtle, and line the back of the shirt. For me, it's all about the little things. This shirt has a cute flower print lined stitch in it, the snappy buttons, the studs, the perfect shade of blue to go with my not so perfect shade of God knows what hair color....Perfection, me loves.

The only tricky thing is pairing it up with bottoms. I attempted to wear it right after I bought it and realized I had to head back out for a pair of white skinny jeans. It's okay with black, but it looks amazing with white, mental note if you are purchasing one of these to go through your closet in your head first, save yourself the trip. (Which I was not smart enough to do).

Once again and I'm sure not for the last time, Winners has made me happy. I've also realized that I love Dollhouse Shoes. Not sure why but I always pick them up and I always like them and they are usually Dollhouse. These guys came in 3 colors, Red, Yellow and Black. I chose the black ones because the other colors clashed with my hairdo, and honestly I'm not a huge fan of red unless it's on my lips or nails.I keep wearing these little ballet flats I wore for "interviews" and I'm realizing they are quite practical, but mine were a little too cutesy for my usual attire of choice. These are purrrrr-fect, love em and I have the higher version for when I'm feeling a little flashy. Keep in mind, these are not polkadots (as some of you thought the ones on the heels were), they are silver studs.

So, just for the fun of it, to humor myself that I dramatically changed my room by changing a duvet cover and lamps, I'm giving you the before and after pics. I get a lot of "where did you get those" for the pictures above my bed. I have 5 in total, and they are all shots by the same photographer and I love that they are sort of "raised" out within the frame. I just find them different and quite lovely indeed. I bought them at Urban Barn about 3 years ago and they were $75.00 each. I saw them in the Granville location when I got back from Australia and while those exact ones might not be there anymore, they have similar type stuff where they come in groups and you can buy one, two or a few.
I wish I could paint my walls but in the meantime, everything now matches and my little O.C.D matchy matchy compulsion can take a load off, until I decide that Bile yellow is the color of the moment.

A Nice Grey Area

So the biggest thing that had to go aside from the lamps was my duvet cover.
My old room was sort of in the "beige" family of color choices,and it has since migrated to more in the range of dark brown, white and silver (The silver on account of moving some artwork into my bedroom from the living area).
Something just wasn't working, and on Saturday I decided the beige duvet cover was the pink elephant in the room, and it had bad gas-and had to go. Finding a grey duvet cover was difficult, as is finding a grey couch, but I got one,and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. The beige one I had on my bed was from Urban Barn, sort of a cotton stripe mixed with a satin stripe. Very subtle, and I always found it sort of "elegant". I was able to find the exact same one in a very neutral grey color with silver undertones,and it wasn't nearly as much as the one from Urban Barn Cost. Score.
Keep in mind, the walls need paint and I'm changing my accent color to a deep purple (I think), but that's next weekend.

Let there be White Light

I decided last week I no longer cared for my bedroom decor. It's like it's halfway from where I wanted it to be.
Lately I've been obsessed with what I like to call "Victorian" style. To me, it's a mixture of sort of French looking stuff that either is an antique, or looks like it could be. I'm posting pics above this post of the "after" view of how and why I changed the lamps in my room. It's also a way to purge the "Ikeaness" from my bedroom. These were sort of a nice neutral style that like a great pair of jeans, can be dressed up or down. I liked the crystal stem too, its got an interesting shape to it, it's like it was plucked from Supermans lair or something, I dig it. The only thing I don't love is that unlike my Ikea lamps, the light it gives off is quite white, but that's a result of the shade and something I'll just have to adjust too.
Nothing beats a soft yellow light, it's like a view with beer goggles on, everything just looks that much nicer, except I think when I wake up in the morning and look at them , I won't be muttering "Oh my God what was I thinking....".

I don't cook much, like we're talking 3 minute Mr.Noodles take too long if you ask me. By the time I'm done chopping, washing, cutting and "simmering" ,chances are I've already eaten a bag of chips and a granola bar. Forgive me for the lack of excitement, I know these aren't the find of the year, but it's probably one of my most worn items over the last 2 years.
When Urban Outfitters opened up in Van a couple years ago, I went apes%&t. I LOVE that store. Not because it's kitchy, and scene-sterish suited, it honestly just has cool stuff available, no matter how you put it together.
They had a table with these V neck t-shirts in almost every color you could think of. I bought a white one. The girl at the cash told me I could get 2 for $28.00 instead of 1 for $18.00, so I went back and got another white one. Keep in mind that I am so a white t shirt and jeans kinda girl. It's probably my favorite everyday outfit, my weekend going out gear,and perfectly suitable for Sundays where mustering up the effort to get out of bed is about all I expend never mind attempting to look presentable.
Casual and Cool, with the right necklace or hat, nothing beats a great plain tee.
So yes, you can pretty much buy a white tee anywhere, but these are better, or at least I think so.

Last week I posted about some 3/4 length tops that had this burnout effect on them. This tee is the same,and me loves it.
It comes in a lot of colors, I went with the bright yellow since it was one of the only colors I didn't have in the longer sleeve version. Again, these are the choices unemployment makes me face, under usual circumstances I'd buy both styles in every color even though the only difference is a few inches in the sleeve length.

Whatever, I guess this is how I'm learning "restraint".

So I'm showing my besty what I bought the other day, and I show her these grey Corduroy pants.
For a minute, I thought she was made because I had bought the same ones she had gotten a couple months ago, but I soon realized she was actually mad because mine cost $11.99, and hers were around $300. Bottom line-she couldn't tell the difference. They felt the same, looked the same, and are both a "skinny" style. I think mine are a little stretchier than hers though, even better.(Sorry Buddy).

The pockets sit low on the bum, so it feels kind of weird at first, like you want to hike them up, but you just need to get used to the feel of the lowered pockets. For me, I feel like it makes my bum bum look smaller so I'm happy to adjust. Lucked out with these too in the way that I can get away without hemming them, which is a small victory for short people.
On sale for $11.99, I could care less if I wear them once and leave them somewhere, but they are good for fat days so I think I will keep an eye on them.

Me loves when I can go out, buy a pair of pants and they fit perfectly. Those of you ladies who are blessed with a height above 5"2 and long legs will not understand this. When I try pants on, I can never actually see what they will look like because I have to stand on my tippytoes and roll up the bottoms to the point where what is supposed to be the knee is down near my ankles. If you are having a hard time understanding this, take for example the time I bought "bell bottom" jeans. When I had them hemmed, the "bell" was completely cut off and I was left with a warped straight leg jean. Glad I payed 200 for the jeans and 20 for the hem,they look really great on my shelf.

Getting back to the pants at hand; these are rad for the reason I speak of. I put them on, no tippy toe standing, no rolling and bunching and attempting to imagine what they might look like if I get the extra 3-6 inches cut off the bottom. They fit PERFECTLY. They are actually meant for that trend that is happening right now for skinny jeans being meant to hit at the ankle, even for the tall gals. The fact that they are super stretchy, high waisted and void of annoying embellishments might make them my pants of the year. I bought them in black, but it was actually because they didn't have my size in a blue denim wash. I'm going back to get the dark rinse color, so for any of you that want them, please leave me the size 28. Thanks.

So apparently as pointed out to me today, I was wearing "Harem Pants".
I viciously denied that's what they are. They are Cargo pants with skinny bottoms-end of story.
Harem pants look like a giant diaper, I don't do diapers.

I love these, totally my new loungy pants. They have a cute wasitband with 3 little bottons off the the side that make them look more like pants. They are also elastic waisted. Yay fat days won't be so painful anymore! They have elastic at the botton too which actually makes them perfect for tucking into ankle booties or high tops. I was liking them with my Nikes but since I bought those forever ago and just bought these new booties, I paired them up with the booties.

Better in Leather Part Deux

I looooove leather/pleather whatever. I've wanted a pair of leather pants for a long time, especially since I had some in HIGHSCHOOL that I gave away to the thrift shop . I have missed them everyday since.
I know it's kind of walking the line of trashy, but I'm convinced you just have to do it right. These ones are tight, like leggings with zippers at the bottom. Since they naturally gravitiate towards Hoochie wear on their own accord, I think the key is to simplify everything else you wear and let them stand on their own.
If I had to pick a favorite look, this type would be it. Easy, Breezy,Beautiful-Pleather Girl.

Now for me, I like them with a plain white shirt (Heather Grey tank underneath) , Cowboy Boots and Red Lips.
Anything else is asking to be carried home over someones shoulder screaming "No means No even though I'm dressed like a tramp". Although I did toy with the idea of the Zebra print Heels with the Red heel, looks rad with the red lips, but that's strictly after hours attire you hear?

It's not really me, like the me me that is strutting around in cowboy boots and has Jesus necklaces roped around my neck 24/7, but it's me on a me day off.
Thanks to Stacey for the suggestion of taking pics of clothes on me, to show how they look. It's hard to take pics of um, well yourself in a full body shot so I'm compromising (and growing as a person at the same time) and taking pics of some of the stuff in outfit form on the floor. Hanger appeal is what stores refer to a garment as having when something looks good hanging on the hanger. Good hanger appeal means it makes you pick it up and try it on. Nightmare hanging appeal is stuff with strings and chach-ka's hanging off it everywhere making it either fall off, or make you not want to even bother since you know you'll have to hang it back up.

Exhibit A- This dress. So cute on, but so blah on the hanger. It's got a super cute cut to the bottom. It comes down slightly on the sides and it tightens up a bit to avoid any showing of the foo foo by accident (or by drink default). It's sort of silky and I bought it in two colors as they were both equally stunning and muted at the same time. I put an outfit pic in here for you cuz on it's own, it has that too cute and "Hi I'm the preachers daughter" type thing going on and I think we can all agree, I am the farthest thing from it. In fact I'm amazed that my potty mouth hasn't poo pood it's way all over my little site.

Zara has some crazy sale going on right now. I don't usually look at prices of stuff until after I've tried it on. Yesterday was the awesome-ist day ever. How often do you try something on, love it, look down at the price and it's 10 bucks?
I picked these up for $9.99. Ten dollars! Remember what I was saying about trends and expensive stuff...not to spend to much because you get sick of stuff that is too "out there" and before you know it,you spend 500 bucks on Orange cowboy Boots that you never end up wearing. (Yes I still regret that purchase).

These are perfect, I can wear em a few times, super cute, comfy and Dirrrrrt Cheap.Who cares that people can see me coming a mile away, that just means they have ample time to get out of the way.

Old habits die hard. Perfect example of when you love something, buy it in every color it comes in.
I bought this light blue colored one last week, and I LOVED it so much I decided to go back and get some more.
It's just a simple 3/4 sleeve shirt with a cutesy little pocket on it, but it's just so easy to wear. The fabrication is cotton, but it's called "burnout" where there are little patches that are thinner than the rest of it, so it makes a pattern effect. So awesome cuz you can either be matchy matchy with a tonal tank underneath or for extra fun, mix it up with another color and it shows thorough just enough for some spunk. (But not the funky kind).

These shirts are under the label "BDG" which is Urban Outfitters label. I love pretty much anything that is made by them and these are no exception. The only problem I have with everything BDG is you have to try multiple sizes of the same shirt. By that , I don't mean try a medium and a large because they fit small, I mean one medium is teeny tiny and the other one will be swimming on you. Maybe it says something about quality, inconsistency wise, but I'm okay with it. At $18 bucks each or 2 for $28, who the hell cares? Just be prepared to spend some extra time in the change room, and don't let them look at you funny for bringing in 5 smalls, that just means you are prepared. Or, if they are giving you the stinkeye, just keep asking if they wouldn't mind grabbing you a small, 5 times over. Take that.

In that case, I am a giant chicken finger.
So we've discussed before that sometimes I need a little help with my complexion to make it look like I'm surviving on more than raw hot dogs and sour cola candies. I've been using this product for a few years, and I figure it's good enough to cover up a bullet wound never mind give me an even skin tone. Miracle product title warranted with this little sucker for sure.

It's like 5 concealers in one. It's probably one of the only things I've ever bought where I actually read the info pamphlet that is included and I'm glad I did.

The green color is for redness, especially good around the nose area. Totally zaps redness around zitty kiddies too.
The lilac color is for brightening. Put it in the areas you would put a bronzer, it just sort of brightens those areas as a base before you put foundation on.
The Dark beige is for contouring. This one is probably my fav and my good friends know that my nose is not as skinny as it sometimes looks, and its this color that is doing it. Blend along the nose and under cheekbones to give you contour where you otherwise wouldn't have it. See Jennifer Lopez with and without makeup if you don't know what I'm talking about.
The light beige is for under eye circles.
The other color you can blend with any of the others to make a general concealer for any other trouble spots.

Honestly, this little disc is one of the best beauty products I've ever bought and have continued to buy for years.
I highly recommend it and even with a slightly heftier price tag than you might be used too, keep in mind it lasts for forever and you get like 5 in 1.

Well, more like in my living room at the moment, but they will be moving into my bedroom when they are potty trained.

Another item I find "ugly hot", like at any moment I could toss them off my balcony and shout "What was I thinking"?
They are kind of furry, but a soft and cozy furry. I'm changing the "mood" of my bedroom at a snails pace, but thought they would eventually fit in well as throw pillows on the bed. In the meantime, they are making nice on my couch and they are growing on me. The reason I buy ugly hot things? Usually when they are cheap enough that if the ugly overpowers the hot, I won't scold myself for tossing them.

Well, actually I bought it so he would come over and build it, so I guess that doesn't really work, but I'm no good with instructions so this is when boys come in handy. A big thank you to a certain male who had the patience to build it for me, you are my hero.

I'm not a fan of Ikea furniture. Not because I don't think they offer great products at a great price, but for someone who has moved quite a bit over the last few years, has since realized their furniture does not usually make the move in one piece. Ikea is good for the here and now, when you don't have a ton to spend but need something functioning and cheap. Just hope you like the way that table looks in your living room cuz it'll fall apart the minute you try to move it.

I went searching for a bookcase. I'm not really one for knick knacks but I do have a really sweet circa late 90's type behemoth stereo system that plays my ipod that needed a place to rest, so leave me alone.

I'm not sure why but bookcases are ugly. They are like these giant boxes with shelves that I find most people fill with various forms of garbage. It's like a parade of all your personal junk on display, no thanks.

This one however has a nice beveled type edge at the top, a nice little touch, like a bookcase with a second name, it's just got a little more going on. Around the same price as some of the Ikea nonsense I came across, it offers in my opionion a much more stylish option for an otherwise boring ass piece of furniture. It has these cute little round ball legs at the front too, so cute!
Comes with those little holes at the back of the shelves too so you can put wires through it,someone was a thinkin with this one. Added bonus, I'm pretty sure it will still look like this when my castle is finally ready for me to move in and I take it with me.

Sidenote: The antlers in the pic, sweet gift from my buddy Kat up in Kimberly B.C. Kat, you done good with this one,me very much likey. She said they were from a store called the "Gilded Goat".

I can just stare at this for hours, partly because I could be sitting on a new couch that costs the same, but something tells me it's worth it.
I love this necklace, and hopefully no one is as stupid as me and willing to fork out the dough for neck art.
In it's defense, it's handmade with..well...to be honest I can't remember what kind of stones because I wasn't listening, I was distracted by the sparkles it made in my eyes. Something about 25 artisans working on each piece, dipped in gold or silver 4 times...whatever. It's puts everything else I've ever owned to shame.
Quite simply the sickest necklace I will probably ever own.

Pretty Boring vs Boring

This isn't one of those things that is going to go down in my own hall of fame, but it's something I've been hunting down for quite a while.
A black dress is just that, a black dress. Something about it has to be interesting in order to make it so, and I like the details this one had. The fabric is like a lightweight partially sheer material which actually makes a slip underneath give it a little more zing.
The sleeves didn't photograph well, but they bell out and it gives it a nice etherial touch.
See, it really is boring and even I'm not interested enough to bother writing about it anymore, but I really do like it and it can be used for just about anything. The trick with this kind of dress is accessories and shoes, and I was thinking of a particular pair of shoes when I bought it. Brought the dress home, tried it on with the shoes, threw on a necklace and some bangles and voila, it became that much more interesting. Congratulations LBD, you can stay.

That's actually what I thought of when I bought this. I look at interview type attire in the same fashion I would look at an outfit you would wear to meet the significant others parents.I think the idea is to look polished, professional and like you know what you want, in the latter case, their son.
I saw this shirt back in the summer, tried it on and thought it was pretty sweet, but it's not really me. It's more like fake me when I attempt to look like I want to be a powerhouse woman walking down the street with my briefcase yapping on my phone because yeah, I'm just that important. Remember , it's all about projecting an image of success, whether you actually are one is neither here nor there...

I love leather, or pleather or anything that looks and feels like it.
This jacket has a wicked collar and the color is a refreshing departure from your standard browns and blacks.
My philosophy is if you are going to experiment with trends or novelty styles and colors, do it cheaply otherwise you end up with $400 Orange Cowboy boots that seemed like a good idea at the time. 40 bucks to look like a million? Where have you been all my life Forever 21? Oh yeah, that's right , Edmonton...

They actually had a really great selection of leather jackets in a range of colors. I'm a huge fan of large collars but you can pick up anything from a purple one with a mandarin collar to your standard leather jacket with studs on the shoulders, all under 40 bucks. Effing Steal, though of course I don't condone such behavior.

I've been eyeing this rosary necklace at Blue Ruby for a couple months. Pictured here with the blackish cross and bluish beading, the one I've seen in the store has turquoise beads/gold necklace and a weird colored cross. I'm not so much in love with God as I am the idea of him on a necklace.

Must use restraint, but if you are not bound by such limitations, one of the finest pieces of work I've seen in a while and worth every penny. (All 28, 500 of them). Can also be considered a great gift idea, and by that, I mean a gift for me ; )

God knows my healthy glow is not from stocking up on leafy greens and fruits. I am a walking toxic dump. I'm surprised I'm not green half the time never mind the fact that in addition to my terrible eating habits, I never drink water. What can I say, it doesn't taste like anything.

I've been relying on this blush from Mac for as long as I can remember. I love that kind of glowy/dewy look as opposed to a "bronzed look". It's one thing to look sun kissed, and its another to look like the sun straight up beat you upside the face.
I find bronzers tricky, and ultimately have decided to stay away from them. This shade is great on it's own or layer it on top of your pinks and peaches to add a golden hue to the end result.

It's not shiny, it's not frosty, and sure as f*#k ain't orange. Ding Ding Ding Folks, we have a winner.

Unemployment is a slippery slope. Today I fell. Right into this lovely boyfriend blazer.
It's not my fault. I went to print resumes and it was on the way back. Well not really but it's a blazer, technically professional attire. They say you must dress for success and surely I can at least look the part in this no?

I like this one better than a few others I've seen. There is no button which is great since I usually find that something as small as a button can throw an outfit off. If it's silver, you can't wear gold etc. I opted for a style in a tweedish type material instead of the more suited one I tried on first. Even in this style,there were two very similar colors. It takes me 20 minutes to pick a tomato, so after a 30 minute hurdle of trying to make a choice, I went with this one. These are the obstacles unemployment makes me face, the old me would have just bought both and been done with it.

I must apologize. Sadly my lack of posts comes from a lack of funds rather than a lack of interest in spending money and posting mumbo jumbo about it. Mammasita Anita has imposed my own leash accordingly in order to comply with this thing I signed called a lease and the agreement to pay it every month. So , unless anyone wants to know where to rent an expensive apartment in the gayest neighborhood in town ( Perfect place for a single woman approaching the thirties by the way), posts have been suspended until I can get the employment issue resolved.
Not to worry my fine friends, upon a first pay cheque of any amount there will be a celebration of a return to life in which I promise to spend approximately 75% of it on items I don't need whatsoever, but simply just must have. And after all the buildup of this non-shopping nonsense, it will undoubtedly be of astronomical proportions. This is like those facebook pictures where there are cartoon characters and you tag your friends as "The cute one", or "The drunk chick"...except I'd get "The broke ass bi$&h".

I had this pic of Vanessa Hudgens in a denim shirt from the summer and I was obsessed with finding one similar. While the summer might be over, my quest was not.

Before I bought my jewelry cabinet, I had a hard time finding ways to store my growing collection of neck and ear decor.
I found these antler hooks at Urban Outfitters during my antler and branch craze. I didn't realize what they would be good for, they were just something antler and I had to have them.
Even though I have everything nicely stored in little compartments, I still keep my longer necklaces on the antlers. A lot of my friends ask where I bought them and I feel bad when I say it was so long ago and that they don't sell them anymore.
HOWEVER, I always keep my eyes open, and I found these other branch/antler hybrid hooks over the weekend.
My mom informed me that I need a job more than I needed more antler hooks, so I didn't buy them, but thought I could pass along where you could find something similar if you're digging the antler/branch thing like I do.
I found this version with the two hooks at Paboom on 4th, but worth mentioning, if you want more of them, Front and Company on Main street has the same version as the one in the photo, but I think it has about 5 actual hook pieces on it.

Sometimes I buy stupid things just because they are cute. See frog shaped coasters I now hide from view of my 30 year old friends.
This was actually a cute and useful item.
I used to live in a really old building in South Granville. Bonus- it was an old building and HUGE. Downfall was everything in it was old, including the tub. Somewhere along the way we lost the drain stop for the bathtub. In a house of 3 girls, baths are a regular occurrence. For a while, I tried using the plastic lid from my shaving cream. That was interesting, holding it down with my toes the whole time made for a slightly less relaxing bath. I tried to buy one from Home depot, Canadian tire, but because it was so old, none of them fit. I found this one at Paboom on West 4th . They don't sell them anymore, but I went looking for them somewhere else in case you have the same problem. I found them just down the street at Now & Then on 4th.
Super cute and it works, yay! Comes in variety of colors, I just picked this one cuz it matched my hair.

(Also a good alternative if you have the metal stopper thing but the handle or chain has ripped off).

Not even possibly, these are the cutest cards I have EVER seen.
I came across these when I was doing some buying a few years ago and I've never forgotten them.

Another lesser known fact, I went to hairdressing school. Why am I not a hairdresser you ask? Because my mom was wrong, Evidently I can't do anything I set my mind to. Quite simply the reason is because I sucked at it, and its one of those professions where you don't have a lot of time or practice to "get better". Don't even ask me if I can give you a trim because I can't even color within the lines of a balloon nevermind cut in a straight line.The end.

This would best explain why I have much love for the talented people that have styled, cut and colored (and color corrected) my hair over the years. Below this post will be pictures of a few of the styles that got the most "Who dun it" questions and the hairdressers information that did it. All of them at one point or another have worked miracles, and I highly recommend any of them should you require the services of a professional.

I had hair horror happen to me in Australia. What started as going in to get my roots done ended up with me having two toned hair, Red on top and brown on the bottom. Not willing to cut the brown off, I went somewhere else to get it fixed and came out with an ugly all over mahogany color. In an attempt to fix that, I ended up with over bleached hair that resembled a pink tutu. In the end, it was deemed un-fixable and I had to return to a natural brunette hue and wait the growing out stage. I went to 6 hairdressers. SIX. All of whom told me that going back to any shade of red could not be done without my hair falling out, melting away or coming out in all shades of the rainbow. No one would touch it, until Steven. (Insert God-entering type music here).

Steven brought me back to life when everyone else told me to give up and live with being a brunette. Quite simply, I would not take that for an answer. If Lindsay Lohan isn't bald by now I sure as hell wasn't going to turn out that way, why could no one see that?
He knew it was a big job, but it was one he was willing to take on. I was in the salon for 8 hours. I can't even get into the details about why this was so complicated, but just trust me when I say that fixing my hair was probably the hardest job of his life. For a moment about half way through when I looked like a florescent orange pylon, I thought he looked a little worried, but he pulled it out in the end. I wasn't happy with the first color, and told him ,and he fixed it right away by applying a color to tone down the brightness of the first. Honestly, this was a big, huge job in terms of color correction, and what was quoted to me by other stylists that refused to do it was in the five hundred dollar range. I ended up paying $250, and that was because he had to add on an extra product fee. (My hair is way thicker than it looks and eats up color like a dryer does socks). Worth every penny, He did what no one else would, and for that I love him.

Side note: John my regular hairdresser was on holidays for a month when I got back from Australia, and that's how I ended up with Steven, both equally talented.

So I went to see John on the recommendation of a friend. (Lexi if you are out there, I owe you for this one!)
John is ah-may-zing. There are a lot of hairdressers out there who are not fond of doing red hair, fake or otherwise. It's messy,and unless the client maintains the color you are like a walking billboard of a crappy job that is not their fault once the color has faded. John gets so close to my roots with the color I swear the couple inches that grow out are actually dyed red.
I'm usually in the salon for a few hours because my hair is done in a few stages, so I've seen him turn out some pretty rad looking blonds in my time there.Given the fact that he's been doing this for over 10 years, he's a pro at churning out colors that are as close to perfection as you will ever see. He's also honest, and if you ask him what he thinks of a shade or color, he'll tell you if he thinks you would be better suited for something else. He's told me numerous times that I'm insane and that my search for the perfect pomegranate color will only be achieved if I actually dip my head in pomegranate juice; But he's gotten me pretty damn close, and for that, I will always love him.

He's also easy on the eyes and it makes the waiting time go by all that much faster when you have something nice to look at no?

Cut and color done by Deandra Vaughn at Barbarella Hair Salon on Main and 16th.

This was the best cut of my entire life. I brought in a picture of what I wanted, but told her that I wanted a slightly longer version of what was in the picture. Deandra took her time with my hair and cut it wet, blow dried it and then continued cutting when it was dry. The color was also amazing. She put the foils in my head in a way that when it grew out, the root lines were not as visible as they had been in the past. Putting them in at odd angles allowed for there to be a less evident root line so I could go longer between touch-ups. A cutting genius of you are looking for layers, this is where the "I want to look like a rockstar on their day off " look actually started.Pictures has the pic I brought in and then a side view of my hair.

Eww, sorry. Even I'm grossed out by that title, but it's in reference to double finger rings, so I hope you can forgive me.
These little bad boys are on the very top of the "where did you get those" list. Sadly, my collection started in Australia, so unless you can get to Bondi Beach, you'll be out of luck for the styles from my personal collection. BUT...I really wanted to look for some here in town to try and tell people where you might be able to find them. So far, I've only come across a few styles, but while you continue to look, hopefully they can jump start your new collection.

Bang on has a really simple style that comes in just gold or silver, basically just two bands together. I'd call these training wheels for double finger rings and a good place to start as the bigger the ring, the more it takes to get used to the limited use of the fingers you wear them on. I'd like to consider myself over the beginning stages as I wore my biggest "Rock" double finger ring bartending with no problems. So hopefully that can also answer your question of "can you still use your fingers when you wear them?", the answer is absolutely. Aside from the simple styles, they have one that says "Famous" across it, and it actually spans over 3 fingers. If it said Hollywood I would have got it, but famous isn't really my steez, but it might be yours. They also had a little bit of a thicker block style with rhinestones,again in both gold and silver. I was able to see all of them at the Robson St. Location but they only had a couple at the Metrotown Bang-On.

So, I promise as I'm on the hunt to adding to my own double finger ring collection to post anything new I find, but in the meantime, if you are just dying to have one, check out Bang-On and just ask to see anything they have in the double finger style.

I've been looking for a jacket like this since I saw this photo in a magazine back in Australia. A habit of mine is to rip pictures out that I like and take them shopping with me. When a sales person approaches and asks if they can help me find anything, I whip out my picture and say "Sure, got anything that looks like this?". It saves me from digging though racks, which is something I prefer not to do. The way I see it, put the good stuff where I can see it cuz the only thing I dig is my foot out from my mouth on the odd occasion.

Leather jackets in general are a huge fav of mine, in fact huge would still be an understatement. If I had 3 staples in a constant rotation in my wardrobe, it would include cowboy boots, awesome jewelry and a leather jacket. This one hit the target in terms of the style. I'll admit,the fit isn't the greatest, as in I had to buy a large because the style has it a little on the short side, so it's a tad big in the arms. It also looks better undone as opposed to zipped all the way up. I had to take another look at it when I got home on account that the lighting in Hollister was rather suspect. I can't decide what I care for less-Skinny mirrors or lighting so terrible I can't tell what color my own hair is. I get the whole beach vibe thing Hollister has going but for real, somethings gotta give. When I'm asking the mannequin who I mistook for my best friend what she thinks of the shirt I've got on, that tells me the lighting is a tad better suited for a vampire,and sadly I am but just a mortal woman.

Not really, but for some reason these boots make me feel like I should have a bow and arrow slung over my shoulder hunting dinner in the woods, too bad I'm a fussitarian. (Someone who does not eat normal food and takes the word "picky" to a whole new level).

Above the knee boots for those that care happen to be very "in" right now, and these offer both the option of being a below the knee boot by folding the top down or leaving it up for aforementioned look. I actually got these over a year ago at Spank on West 4th. Cost- $200.00. I just saw them at Winners for $90.00. I think they look best with leggings or super skinny jeans but if you're up for the challenge of pulling off a stylish yet not skanky look, try it with a shorter dress or skirt.Just don't be surprised if you miss the mark and someone is calling out "Oh Bambi..", because yes, they would be talking to you.

For that price, I'd swing from a tree branch any day. I suggest you swang on over to Winners and pick yourself up a pair.

I kid because I love-this necklace of course.
Always been a fan of Rosaries. You might not know I attended a private Catholic school when I was in my early elementary years.
When my family made a move from North Delta to White Rock, my mom asked me if I wanted to attend public school , or remain in my tunic friendly familiar surroundings. Deciding Factor? I got to wear my own clothes at public school, even at that age I was dying to get out of my white knee socks and rock some personal style. (I had a killer scrunchie collection I was dying to showcase).

Perhaps it's a reminder of my past, a way to reconnect with my old more innocent version of myself, but nothing about this necklace says innocent to me. Love it with a plain white tee and jeans, it's the perfect length to capture the eye and keep it focused above that muffin top. This was the only one I've seen in a while and it cures me of all my sins. Well, not really, but who's going to mess with God? Or at the very least, someone wearing him?

I am constantly on the look out for a man that is exceptionally tall,blonde or light haired with blue eyes-essentially my exact opposite. My reasoning behind this is that I would like my children (God help me) if I ever had any, to have a fighting chance at being something other than a midget with brown hair and brown eyes. This is where I have to throw in the token "Of course there is nothing wrong with that...", but for me, I'm happier being a fake red-head with fake blue eyes, I figure it goes better with my fake personality.
I'm actually really glad I don't have a few thousand bucks lying around for no good reason. I'd be one of those chicks walking around with a really mangled face wrapped in bandages and qwackadoodled lips saying "Just one more surgery!"

I was born with brown eyes, though most people that know me can probably say that they have not seen them in years. I've been wearing Blue contacts for over 10 years and I wear them everyday. I don't have a prescription, meaning they are purely for cosmetic reasons. Over the years I have tried different brands and different colors. I've been wearing one brand and one color now for the last 5 or so, they are called "Expressions" and they are made by Cooper Vision. The nice thing about this brand is that some of the colors are specifically designed for brown eyes. You know that fake look that a lot of people have when they are wearing colored lenses? That look happens when too much of the brown underneath is poking though. These lenses are the best of the bunch, and trust me I've tried them all. (Freshlook are the worst, people told me I looked "stoned", "high" or just plain crazy when I wore them.) A lot of places who sell these colored lenses try and make an extra buck off you by telling you that even though you don't require a prescription, you still need an "eye exam" to measure your eyes. I found a place that told me that is bull-s$%t, since they come in one size and fit everyone the same way, it's the prescription that alters the lens, nothing more.
This place also lets you try the lenses on in different colors so you can "try before you buy" and make sure you like the color you are getting and that it suits you. They let you take a mirror and walk outside just to make sure you get the full idea of how they look, and take advantage of that as some of them really do change in the daylight. If they don't have a box ready to sell in the store, you order them and it takes about 2 business days to get there.

Honestly, there are still times where people call me out for having "fake eyes" , but more often then not , I get told I have the most beautiful eyes,and even though they aren't mine, it's still nice to hear. My response is always " Thank you! You can get them too if you want, they are just $79.99 a box!"

Though it doesn't happen often, there are times when even I like to remind myself that I am indeed a female.So on the days where I give my guns and antlers a rest, little studs like these are perfect for "work"or "family gatherings" where people in the past have had issues with a machete being worn around my neck. I assume when asked to choose more "appropriate jewelry" that these little rose buds would be acceptable?
How could they not? So small but still have a little style rebel kick to them. The color in the photo comes out a little more blue then they actually look, I would call them more turquoise in addition to absolutely adorable. I bought 2 pairs,when they are this cheap, I can lose one and still have a back up. Speaking of back-ups, the backs of these little guys are super strong, I don't think they are going anywhere, and I'm happy about that. Also available in Purple and Pink.

This is one of those things I think of as ugly hot. At first, It looks like one of those things your grandma knit you for Xmas and you're all "Wow, Thanks", but on second look, it's actually kind of cute in the same kind of way. I'm a fan of this old school style toque, bobble head thing and all. I love the little strings that hang down on the side. It has so many colors in it it's one of those things that almost go with nothing but at the same time go with everything, can't go wrong with that.

My new Winter hat, and at 11 bucks, a steal. Also comes in a darker color combo, but this one matched my hair.

I love antlers. A while back I was OBSESSED with finding anything with them on it-a ring, a necklace etc.
I was in NY a few years ago and I bought this necklace at a typical "artist market". I chatted with the designer and talked him down a few bucks and took his card. I'm sure he didn't think much of a Canadian chick telling him he would "make it" one day because his jewelry was seriously rad,but I told him he would anyways.
I suppose I lucked out because at the time, I paid $100 bucks for my necklace. You can imagine my surprise when I ended up seeing my exact necklace at the Block in Gastown about a year later. While I'm not sure if they still carry the line, when they had my necklace, it was priced at $230.00.

Although this isn't something I bought recently, it's still relevant because it's just as wicked as the day I bought it. I looked it up online and the line is doing really well and has expanded into new collections. Unfortunately, I won' be making a trip back to NY anytime soon so I'm thinking I might just have to fork over the major cash for the matching ring I just found on line. Was what this one guy said to me when I wore this scent. Guys rarely comment on your clothes, shoes or anything else they deem to be girl nonsense but I can honestly say never have I gotten so many compliments from MEN as when I wear this perfume. Best described as reminiscent of your childhood days spent at a fair eating cotton candy, it has an air of sweetness that unlike real sugar, doesn't deposit itself nicely on your ass. While some might consider it sickly sweet, it seems to leave random strangers wanting to take a bite out of you, and hey, if he's cute, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

I'll always be loyal to Angel for my go to scent, but I wear this one occasionally with only good reaction from both men and women.
Guys have asked me what I'm wearing because they want to get it for their girlfriends before they take a bite out of my neck and have to explain themselves. For Real, this stuff draws dudes in like real candy, or perhaps a ham sandwich is a better metaphor to use in this case.

If you don't have a signature scent , rock this one in the meantime, I promise you won't regret it.

Wittner=Heaven

While none of these are easy to get (order internationally), they are worth every penny to get them shipped here.
I was in Australia for a year and came across what might be considered a store like Aldo ,"Wittner",with locations in every mall and generally the most popular shoe store. Unlike most chain stores, they truly offer unique and fashion forward styles that rival designer brands at an affordable price.

These 3 pairs were and are still at the top of my favorites list of shoes I've ever bought and I imagine, always will be. I've been stopped I can't tell you how many times by girls wanting to know where I got them(and you know how hard it is to compliment another chick right?). The bad news is I bought them in Australia (the zebra pair was sent to me by my best friend who remains in Australia still) but the good news is they ship internationally. The black ones at the bottom might look like polka dots, but they are actually silver studs, HOT.

Hands down the most comfortable heels I've ever owned. They all have built in platforms so although they look a little high, makes them all the more easy to walk in. Not to mention they reek of a sense of style, and perfectly capture my "rock star on a day off look". As a guide, I am a size 6 shoe, and all 3 pairs I bought from Wittner are a "37", so I'm guessing if you are a size 8, you would want to order a "39".

I know why I'm not married yet, it's because I'm already in love, with these shoes.

If anyone knows me well, they know that I am not a fan of second hand shopping or vintage stores. For the most part, I'd rather pierce my own eyelids than sift through racks of preloved clothing that is generally like a garage sale, meaning you are just buying someone else's crap. No need for crap here, I'm all stocked up thanks.

BUT...I came across this store called Turnabout which is a consignment store. While yes, there is a bit of sifting involved, I can say that most of the merchandise in the stores is wearable and in good condition. If you do have the time or energy to sort through racks (which are conveniently organized by size and color), you might just find a hidden gem.

I found my gem today in the form of Black Cowboy boots. Cowboy boots are a staple in my wardrobe like underwear. I wear them year round and in my opinion, they go with everything. In the summer I'm a huge fan of the dress with cowboy boots ensemble. While I can't really fit my personal style into one tiny little category, I will generally say that I'm going for a "rock star on their day off" type look, and boots and a dress do it for me with little effort.

Like leather jackets, Cowboy boots are one of those things that look better worn in. I picked these up today and while unfortunately there are no other pairs available, I did see a few other cute things in the store and stock is put out on the floor on a daily basis. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Worth mentioning- At the Broadway location there is a pair of Betsey Johnson platform light tan little moccasin booties, about ankle height. Size 6, if they fit you, snatch those up! If you are like me and you have little patience for digging through racks, the shoes are displayed for easy viewing and it's easy enough to do a quick scan and see if there is anything interesting. The Granville location has a specific designer area for both clothing,bags and shoes so if you are a label whore...head there for some second hand pricing for some otherwise for the most part new items.

OPI, the Good, the Bad and the Alternative

OPI Nail Polish.

The good? - It comes in a mind numbing array of shades. It's like a paint store, I bet you could bring a piece of your own crap in and they'd say "oh yes we have the perfect match for you, it's called "Taint the Town Brown".

The bad? - This stuff dries out and becomes thicker than toothpaste and I find myself using nail polish remover way too soon to thin it back out. At around 10 bucks a bottle, in my opinion..Unacceptable!

The Alternative- N.Y.C Color proves to be a better polish in more ways than one. The color I got is very similar to "Linkin Park After Dark" , which is the shade I usually buy from OPI. You do need two coats just like most polishes but the bonus is that it dries really fast and you can apply the second not long after the first. I find the OPI takes forever to dry and I usually end up with scratches and what not due to not being able to remain immobile for long enough. Seriously? I've got better things to do then sit around and wait for paint to dry.

Honestly, I'll probably still buy OPI because I like the little bottles they come in, (I'm a sucker for cute packaging/bottles) and I like all my cosmetic products to look the same. I like to line up all my polishes like little soldiers and pick which one I want to go to battle(work) in for the week. A far less costly alternative at $1.99 a bottle, I'll just buy the cheaper ones and line them up behind and pretend I'm just picking from the reserve army.

I was on the hunt for a versatile bag for a while, and I finally found it in a store I don't usually go in.
This bag gives me everything I was looking for. It's the right size to be able to tote around for a day of shopping and small enough to bring out when you're out at night. It offers 3 lengths of handles, clutch like around the top and an adjustable strap to sling over your shoulder or one arm. It's also in my opionion, cheerfully cheaper and much more stylish looking than some ugly designer bags I've seen as of late. It's fake leather of course, but the look and feel of it is pretty damn amazing.

Once again, when you find something you like, buy multiple colors. I bought the orange one to spruce up an otherwise plain looking outfit and a black one for when I go to visit my grandma. She's always asking me what's wrong with me since I don't have a husband and knowing her, she would blame it on the orange bag.

Love them both, and they offer just as much on the inside as they do on the out. The inside is divided in two by a zippered pocket in the middle. The outside has 2 pockets on the sides, a perfect place for keys and a phone.

In short, I love this bag and I finally feel satisfied on the bag front. For now at least.

The best pink lips EVER

I've been using Maybelline Shiny-Licious for a few years now,and I still get compliments whenever I'm wearing it.
This is the only gloss I've been able to find that truly makes your lips look pink without being a lipstick.
It's super shiny without looking frosty, and in my opinion, gives the prettiest shade of pink I've ever seen. As an added bonus or curse, depending on how you look at it, it gently stains your lips so that even when it comes off, it leaves a trace of pink behind.
Only negative is it's a little sticky, tie your hair back if it's windy cuz this stuff is like superglue,and don't touch your lips and then your hair, unless you want to have your own "There's something about Mary moment".

Available at pretty much any drugstore or pharmacy cosmetic section out there, it's readily available and cheap, in other words the best combination.

The shade I use is "Berry Bella 20". It does come in other shades as well, I've tried a few of the other pink looking ones but found that this is the best. Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking more along the lines of "Maybe it's Maybelline".

Honorable mention goes to: Mac Lipglass in Flashmode. Not quite as much love for this one, but in a pinch, it's the next best thing. Available at all Mac stores.

Miracle product alert!

A few years ago I decided I needed a change and dyed my hair red. After a brief (forced) dye job back to my natural brunette hair color, I have returned to the land of the living and gone back to a copper hue. If there is one thing that has always bothered me about fake red-heads is their lack of up-keep. Dyed red hair fades fast, and unless you have the drive (or the cash) to keep it up, it can look horrible. This is where the only balls I've ever considered to be a miracle come in.

A few years ago, there was a product called "Art Tech" that made colored shampoo's and conditioners. Honestly, it was a life saver in terms of keeping my color vibrant between root jobs. As with any product you love,it was discontinued. I was able to scrounge up a few last bottles from various salons, but eventually, ran out and almost cried. I looked for an alternative and found that Aveda was one of the only products out there that made products to enhance colored hair, but I found them not to make a noticeable difference,and aside from a pleasant scent, mostly useless. Avoid colored Shampoos, all you need is the conditioner,the shampoo is a waste of money since you wash it out anyways. (No matter what the salon sales person tries to tell you).

This product from Revlon Professional is my new replacement. It comes in lots of shades for every color of hair, not just reds. When I had Red hair I ended up mixing two to make the color I wanted. My advice would be to open the top and look at it, it really does come out the color it looks so be careful ,if you don't want brown tones, stay away from the mahogany shade but if you find your red hair too bright, you can use that one to tone it down. Currently I'm using "400 Tangerine". It keeps my copper looking fresh and I love it! I've only been able to find it at one salon, location listed below for you. If they do not have the shade you want, you can order it and it comes in about 2 weeks.

Something to keep in mind. Every time you use it, it's like depositing color in your hair, so watch it if you get stuck in the rain when you are wearing white, it can bleed off onto your clothes. The plus side is it's always washed out for me, though I didn't have as much luck getting the pinkish hue out of my old bathtub..so be careful! You should also use gloves , but I'm too lazy and dealt with pinkishly hued hands for a few hours after. Don't worry, it comes off eventually and it's sooo worth it.

Yay finally a Pullover hoody!

I've been looking for one for a long time. Just a nice pullover, not too short/baggy and no logo crap on it.
I saw this one at Garage way back in August and thought it was perfect. I went from store to store as the only one each location seemed to have was the one on the mannequin,and they would not sell it to me-MAJOR pet peeve. Pffft.

Today I walked by Garage again and there it was, my heather lavender pullover hoody ,the same one that plagued me back in August still dressed on the mannequin in the window. I went in thinking I'd have to rip it off the mannequin and demand to buy it, but was relieved to find that they had an entire size selection of it. I ended up buying it in two colors. When you find something you like and it fits you well, you can never go wrong buying more than one, in fact I highly recommend it. If you like life with a side of boring, it also comes in black. ; )

Update: Oct 26/09- They just got in 3 new colors! Heather Grey, Coral and ...okay I forgot the 3rd one. I tried to take a picture and was told to put my camera away as pictures were not allowed. Umm Okee Garage Clothing, take it easy, I'm not the papparazzi and you aren't Paris Hilton. Last I checked you'd actually be more likely to dress Tara Reid, so if I were you I'd smile nicely and throw up a peace sign while your at it. Just for that I think I'll try on about 30 items and somehow,none of them will fit quite right...

Impulse buy at the checkout...

I'm not quite sure what caused me to fork 20 something bucks for this "Secrets of Style" special edition, perhaps I was hungry?
Should have got a pack of gum instead. While the mag does have some good pictures, the "style" advice is pretty much fashion 101. People who don't care about fashion are not going to buy this type of magazine and the ones that do understand and love it don't need to be told that heels elongate your legs.

Sometimes I get it wrong, and this was 20 bucks wasted. Don't bother, I know it's all shiny and it looks like a book, something you can keep forever, but they did use current pictures, which means regardless of the style "tips" , it will be dated soon enough.
Buy a pack of gum or gossip rag mag Life and Style, investing 2 bucks is better than 20 and you might just end up with the secret of how to get Tori Spellings concave cleavage- because boobies like that never go out of style.

Perfect Hipster Doofus Tee's

So I know I'm not exactly a Trendsetter while I'm shopping at American Apparel, but a good find is a good find no matter where you find it.
Bought this blue V neck tee and a grey crew neck last weekend. I've had one of these tee's for about 2 years and it still feels like the day I bought it, possibly even better with it's "used" feeling. Shrinkage if anything was minimal (and I throw EVERYTHING in the dryer. Dry Clean only to me means dry it when it's clean). One suggestion I would make is to try on everything, I find the sizing a little wacky. In one style I was trying on an x-small and in another I had to eventually try on a large. Not sure if it's the whole almost every style is a unisex thing, but I don't usually end up in two different sizes from the same brand. Annoying-yes,a deterrent-shouldn't be, just grab 3 sizes of each on the way to the change room.
I'm loving the heathered anything these days..especially in the blue one. Heathering in clothes for those that don't know is when you take a color, and basically think of mixing white with it, the most popular has always been heather grey. These days you can find heathered anything in any color, and American Apparel has a pretty good selection of colors and styles to choose from.
I find the hoodie with the white laces a little played at this point, but thats the problem when something looks good, everyone buys it.
Worth mentioning, I found similar vnecks at Aritzia, but the fit seemed off to me. I was going to buy one anyways but on the way from one store to another to get my size, I found the ones at American Apparel instead. Waaay better.
